Community Use Application

As part of the restoration and re-opening of The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre by Canad Inns, Canad Inns has agreed to permit Schools and Community groups to hold events at the Met on an at cost basis.

As part of our commitment to the community, Canad Inns will make The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre available for use for School Events on six (6) days a year on a no-cost basis, and use for Community Events on six (6) days a year on a cost recovery basis. If your School or Community group is interested in being considered, please fill out the following form completely .

Please Note:

“Community” applicants:
~ The application process for Community Usage is open from January 2nd to March 15, 2017.

Interested “Schools” applicants:
~ The application process for 2017 will remain open for interested applicants until all 6 opportunities are filled.

“Community” means a group of people:

(i) who are affected by common economic, social, and environmental concerns and interests;

or

(ii) who share common experiences, goals, language, heritage and/or culture within the geographical boundaries of the Province of Manitoba or some portion thereof.

“Community Event” means an event hosted, sponsored or organized by a Community Group, which event is intended to benefit the Community but does not contain elements that would compete
with commercial events.

“Community Group” means organizations, groups, associations, clubs or non-share capital corporations to which membership is open to the public at no charge or for a nominal charge. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, it is recognized that Community Groups may be organized for recreational, cultural, sport, fund raising and other activities benefiting the
Community.

“Community Use Dates” means dates which have been allocated for School Events or Community Events. “Community Use Program” means the activities of Canad Inns to make The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre available for School Events on a no cost basis and Community Events on a cost recovery basis.

“School” means:

(i) any public school within the meaning of The Public Schools Act (Manitoba);
(ii) any independent school which is funded under The Public Schools Act (Manitoba).
(iii) “School Event” means an event hosted, sponsored or organized by a School.

Please note:
Canad Inns may require that the School provide evidence of commercial general liability insurance coverage providing a minimum limit of $2.0 million per occurrence for the School Event.
